Mt. Fuji

Mixed media Installation oriente 2016

On clear winter mornings, my father would call me from the wide-open window in our living room and he would say, “Can I show you something very beautiful? Hold my arms tight!”

And as I held his arms tight, he’d pick me up by my ears, high up in the air. Even after I knew the trick, every time it was an incredible sensation! Being suspended by my ears, I could see Fujisan as usual, with snow on the top that sloped down so perfectly.

The Installation “Mt. Fuji” was made with this memory as an inspiration. My father being a businessman, he had numberless ties in his closet. I wanted to keep them all, if I could have.

And then, I found them again here in Lisbon.

So, here is Fujisan!
